Message from the Northfield Township Highway Commissioner
A Road District Built on Service
Serving the residents of Northfield Township continues to be an honor and a responsibility I take seriously. As your Highway Commissioner, I’m proud of the work our team has accomplished and excited about where we’re headed.
Over the past year, we’ve focused on making real improvements to the Township’s infrastructure while maintaining the level of service our residents expect. From routine maintenance to emergency response, every task we take on is done with care, efficiency, and long-term impact in mind. Whether we’re repaving roads, clearing snow, maintaining drainage systems, or upgrading equipment, our goal is simple: to keep Northfield Township moving safely and reliably in every season.
We’ve made strategic investments in equipment, technology, and training to ensure our crew can respond quickly to any situation. We continue to work closely with Cook County, the State of Illinois, and surrounding municipalities to share resources and coordinate when larger projects or emergencies arise. This collaboration is key to keeping costs down and outcomes high.
Looking ahead, we’re developing a multi-year resurfacing plan that prioritizes roads based on condition and use, not just age. We’re also working on improvements to stormwater management infrastructure to reduce flooding risk in key areas. At the same time, we’re staying attentive to routine needs—like pothole repair, tree trimming, and signage replacement—because the little things matter just as much as the big ones.
Beyond infrastructure, I’m proud of the way our Road District team interacts with the community. Our staff shows up early, stays late, and takes pride in going the extra mile—sometimes quite literally. We also continue to support programs that help residents safely dispose of hazardous waste, recycle responsibly, and stay informed about seasonal safety.
As our population grows and infrastructure ages, the demands on the Road District will only increase. But with thoughtful planning, community input, and a dedicated team, I’m confident we’re well positioned to meet both today’s needs and tomorrow’s challenges.
Thank you for your continued trust in our work. We’re proud to serve you, and we’re committed to keeping Northfield Township safe, connected, and well cared for—every mile, every season.
