Overview
The Road District will continue to trim parkway trees on rights-of-way at various locations. Work begins in February and goes on thru May.
Tree trimming is performed on five-year cycles to maintain form and to remove dead, diseased, unattractive and/or low branching limbs, which are possible hazards to pedestrians, cyclists, and all forms of vehicular traffic. Our goal is to remove lower branches to a minimum height of 14 feet in order to diminish these prospective hazards.

Tree trimming keeps the parkway trees along Northfield Township streets healthy, safe, and clear of hazards. The Road District prunes the public trees between the sidewalk and street throughout Northbrook, Glenview, and Northfield.
What the Road District Trims
The District is responsible for tree trimming on parkway trees in the public right-of-way. Trees entirely on private property are the homeowner’s responsibility. If you are unsure whether a tree is a parkway tree, the District can help you determine who maintains it.
