Vehicle Stickers for Unincorporated Cook County Residents
If you live in unincorporated Cook County and own a vehicle, you are required to purchase Cook County vehicle stickers — also known as the wheel tax. This applies to many residents of Northfield Township living in unincorporated areas near Northbrook, Glenview, and Northfield, Illinois.
Who Needs Vehicle Stickers
Vehicle stickers are required for residents of unincorporated Cook County. If your property is within an incorporated village, your municipality handles vehicle licensing instead. Not sure whether you live in an unincorporated area? The Road District can help you confirm before you buy.
When Vehicle Stickers Are Valid
Cook County vehicle stickers are valid from July 1st through June 30th of the following year — a full 12 months. Renew on time, because Cook County Sheriff’s police officers enforce the wheel tax by ticketing vehicles that display an expired or missing sticker.
How to Buy Your Sticker
Vehicle stickers are issued by Cook County, not the Road District. You can purchase or renew directly through the county. For current pricing, deadlines, and online options, visit the official county page below.
